I'm so glad to see you starting to explore this subject as you did with https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/interactive/2021/vegas-child-sex-trafficking-victims-jailed/
There's REASONS behind why this is happening I know you haven't heard about because when it happened, I had a reporter come to me with a hand delivered message courtesy of Sheldon Adelson that anything I had to say about anything would be "blacklisted", which while he was alive, I couldn't even place an ad somewhere because of his influence in the media. Even now that he's dead, I'm not sure if I enlighten you about what I know about this subject if you'd be allowed to publish any of it.
Then again, so much of what went into all of this has been exposed lately, and he has died, so maybe it is time for this to start coming out in the open.
You see, prior to 2008, I had a very open working relationship with Metro, as did Lois Lee from Children of the Night. She had opened CON in 1979, and had an incredible track record of success with her kids. If you understand why she had to open CON in the first place, you'd know that these girls need to be going there for help.
The reason was two fold - first of all because I was running an alternative to incarceration program myself for adults. When an adult was arrested on a prostitution charge, they were referred to me at www.sexworkersanonymous.net If they told me they didn't want to go to jail, especially if they wanted help to get away from their pimp - they would be literally handed over to my custody. I would work with them and the court all through their probation even to where we'd get their records expunged. After two years of proving they'd quit sex work, the court would then hear from me and they'd then clear their whole record so this didn't prevent them from finding other work. In fact, all sex trafficking courts were based upon the model program I created - up until 2008 that is. This was a very pivotal year for reasons I think you'll find interesting - one where things have cleared changed.
So Metro used to refer anyone who appeared to be in distress to myself through SWA. That was until 2008 again that is. Through this, I'd often discover many girls were under the age of 18 years old. Then, I'd call Lois who then would arrange a plane if they had ID, or a bus ticket if they didn't, and we'd ship them down to her. This was all done without Nevada having to pay one dime of money to help these kids. I've seen these kids long after they're graduated her program - so I KNOW how effective CON is at helping these kids.
EVERYTHING CHANGED IN 2008 TO THIS. The reasons, you won't find anyone has had the guts to print. With Jeff Bezos now owning your paper, you may not be able to print the story. Why do I say this? Okay, let me start by pointing out that Amazon is the ONLY authorized shipper to inmates in jail beyond their commissary. In fact, inmates, especially juveniles, have set up "wish lists" through SWOP Behind Bars as their liaison, where young girls continue to have their "johns" send them gifts on the inside that they purchase through Amazon. If you look at the money Amazon makes off sending "gifts" to inmates, especially from their sugar daddies on the outside, they have a vested interest in these girls, and women, BEING IN CUSTODY.
I should also add that PRIOR to this arrangement, where SWOP Behind Bars now actively reaches out to the incarcerated prostitutes, and sets up these "wish lists" for them to continue to receive money while on the inside, along with books promoting sex work - our jail outreach programs have been completely shut out. You see, we used to arrange for those who were in custody to get an early release by working with the court to put them into special housing and programs geared towards getting them sobriety, clean from drugs, and out of all illegal activities including prostitution.
This includes SWOP Behind Bars setting up "fund raisers" to attempt to get these girls/women an attorney. Which is funny because most attorneys will not represent these women for any amount of money for a few reasons - fear of retaliation by the pimps, maybe there's other things going on behind the scenes where men with money WANT these girls to be incarcerated, and therefore their testimonies invalidated they might register otherwise, including against police who may be committed statutory rape, along with the fear of being considered a "whore's attorney". If you see the kind of ribbing Michael Avenetti got while representing Stormy Daniels, then you see what I mean about how many attorneys won't defend these women for fear of it affecting their reputation.
However, if one were to contact SWA, they get help from an attorney for free just by asking. We have a long list of attorneys who will assist for free because we protect everyone's "anonymity". So what I'm saying is that instead of getting a free volunteer attorney off the bat as they'd get with contacting us, SWOP holds fund raisers where the person may, or may not, get any legal counsel. If they do, that attorney may not even work in their best interests if hired by SWOP. I say this because I've heard some pretty serious complaints from these women about what an SWOP retained attorney did about their legal situation not being in THEIR best interests.
If you'd like to talk to me more about it, and see why these girls are STILL being arrested despite there being options that would allow them NOT to be incarcerated or even arrested at all, and then given a criminal record, (which now thanks to the Cupcake Girls, they can even bypass their past prostitution conviction to get a license to work in a legal brothel once they turn 18 years of age thanks to Charles Horkey, who since has been convicted of sex trafficking), ESPECIALLY in the middle of a Covid pandemic, why they're being incarcerated when there are FREE PROVEN options - call me anytime
